Sunny day.  Spring is here.
To BBQ tonight, or not....hmmm.

Booked

Next trip to see
Mom is booked.  I like
it when I know when I'm
going to see her next.
Back to the island I go.

Returned

Oh hai, I'm back.
Trip went well, got a lot
done.  Cats were ecstatic to
see me come dragging my
suitcase in the door.  I love
the way Ginger will sit on me
every chance she gets.  As if by
pinning me down, it will keep me
from wandering out the door again.

Happy Chinese New Year -- Year of the Tiger

Backwards

I should've been born a cat who lives
in my house.  Life would consist of plentiful food,
loving words and scritches under the chin.
Mostly I want to be a cat because of sleep.  Instead of being
awake and busy for 18 hours a day, I could sleep for
18 hours a day.  I think I like that balance
much better.

Not Done

Wait weekend,
please come back.
I wasn't done with you.
There are chores still
undone.  Fun not finished.
Magazines to be read.
Cats to be snuggled.
Alas, it was good, while
it was here.

Weekend!

It's here and not
a minute too soon.
For a short work week
it sure seemed long.  I
need time at home to
recharge.  Tomorrow will be
a bit of routine chores and
a bit of fun and celebration as
I plan to take my best guy out
for a belated birthday lunch.

Movie Day

Salty buttered popcorn in a dark
theater.  Completely mesmerized and
entertained.  At times, I laughed
so hard I had tears streaming down
both of my cheeks.  I thoroughly
enjoyed "it's Complicated".

Blaring Alarm

It's the wee hours of the morn,
I groan and my body complains.
I reach to silence the noise, oh
make the noise stop. My arm
doesn't cooperate and retaliates for
having been slept on.  It is like a
dead tree stump.  I flail at the clock.
I club the cat, the nightstand, the
lamp and finally
the clock.
Silence.  Ahhhh.

Recharging

Hearty breakfast.
Thick coffee.
Sunday paper.
My best friend.
Laughter and smiles,
a shared joke.
Magazine, blanket
sofa and cat.
This day feeds
my soul.

Civic Duty

Following my instructions
to call the night before,
I dialed.  The
recorded voice said
the case scheduled
for Thursday has
been canceled.
Alas, for I find
jury duty interesting
and a great source
for people watching.

Tomorrow

Today wasn't
so good.  Yet
it was good.
Killer migraine.
Heard dumb
news on something.
Heard good
news on another matter.
Things will look
up and be better.
Tomorrow.

Mindless

The daily grind.
Back in full
swing.  Noise.
People.  Hustle
and bustle.
Relaxing tonight.
Mindless TV on
as background noise.
A show coming up.
Conveyor Belt of Love
Am I too old?
What is this crap
they call reality TV?

On Schedule

Monday looms.
The festivity of
December and
the holidays
is over.  The alarm
will blare at
3:25 AM.   Back
to work.  Back
on schedule.

Cleaning

Leaves me
with a feeling
of accomplishment.
I love the
fresh smell and
dust-free-ness
of it all.
My cats will
not forgive
the vacuuming.
